Righto lads and lassies, as Mac is away for this semester I shall be taking it upon myself to get you all running Yes FUN! I know. Ok......... First off I want to get some feedback. At the moment it is too dark in the evenings to do some runs, such as the river run we used to do last semester, so I am just curious as to whether people would like to have runs done in the afternoon sometime. Or if they would still prefer em in evenings, but that we keep to roads or well, lit areas. I just want peoples general ideas, if I don't have anything by next week, I will just come up with it myself, and you can all choose whether to run with me or not. I will be keeping a list of those who do come along on the runs, just so we can keep track of who is actually training So ya guys, post! When you preferably want runs, ideas for runs and anything else you find related to this. Gratzi. Ginge

Hey, Ginge. don't worry i wont make you run on your own. As for when we run i think evenings are best.
most of the people who wud be up for this trip are regular enuf wall goers so i think round half 6 the evenings the wall is open is best because we know that they are usually free at that time, so no excuses

Yup yup, thats very true, even if it was during wall opening times we could probably run them. In terms of evenings, I only know of a few runs. Some of which could be: From PESS, to East Gate, to Main Gate back to PESS (That would most likely just be for 1 or 2 weeks to get into swing of things, that said I am not sure on distances at the moment). Then the lengthen the above one, PESS, to East Gate, to Main Gate, to Thomond, to Cappa, across Living Bridge and back to the Pess. Those are just some ideas I have had, if anyone has others just post them

Hey, I personally go running in the morning or around lunchtime and go from college court the river bank, accross the narrow old bridge to the lame duck and back around by cappa...this may be more of a daytime run rather than evening...
runs from pezz to east gate & main gate sound good for the eve...when people build fittness and want to extend the runs you could go left out the east gate and by the lodge to groody back by college court and to pezz...gradually adding one extra leg to the run every so often...
just a few friendly suggestions ;D ;D ;D

Thats not a bad idea.
I always find that when i am training a change in routes from now and again, and something to move on to and challenge myself helps to keep me motivated and keep at it. Especially in these short cold evenings.

Hey hey, that route you were talking about going along the lane to the Lame Duck, do you just keep on that until you hit the road but instead go right, does that bring you back to Cappa?
Only been out that way once......

ya you turn right when instead of going over the bridge and then take the 1st right down a back road which leads to the back of cappa... variety is the spice of life

Ya i would be interested in some morning running before settling in for a day of work- tis good to blow out the cobwebs...and its much easier to get up to meet up with a group than go out on your own... could vary the route and have hi-vis for the dark mornings...
Tony's idea re keeper is good...night navigation is a good thing to practice esspecially with fully loaded backpacks for good measure.. we could leave UL around 6 and be back before 12... we could run it some wednesday evenings if people were interested...

I like the idea of the morning runs too, its just the case of whether or not I could actually get up But definitely something to look at. Would there be many others interested in getting up for group morning runs? And as per Tonys idea, I like it. I don't know if it is something to sort this semester as a lot of people will be running low on time in the evenings over the next few weeks anyway I imagine, with coursework/studying etc, but for next semester that is something we could have planned and sorted for when we are back straight away. Wub you Tony

In terms of morning runs how early wud you be talking about? I have 9 o'clock starts most mornings as i am sure alot of the gang have 2. Apart from that its not a bad idea. unless you have been out the nite b4 (which you probly have) ;D ;D you have more energy in the morning than you have in the evening

how about meeting up at say the stables ready to go at 7.45... go running for around an hour... and ready to go to class/labs/work for 9.00...
Or else meet wherever suits the majority? we could alternate it start in different locations to do different routes..
In the morning you could go down by kilmurry cut through the industrial estate and come back in the east gate ...
Who is interested in going for a run (route can be decided later)next monday morning?
