I think there are loads of people tied up this weekend with orienteering training in killarney national park and some of us doing howling ridge on carrauntoohil.
But, there is nothing stopping you going out yourself and logging a walk if you are free. I'm nearly sure I wont be able to do MSA, I still have 0 hours in my book and Im almost certain Ill be broke in the not too distant future... (He who shall not be named dam car insurance!!)

Hi Guys, Sorry for bothering ye but for the mountain skills assessment is it just 14 logged walk as I reading the back of my log book and as it says something about non-BOS training and 30 quality walks. Do I need 44 in total then? Also I hope to do night naving next week in the Dublin mountains on monday or tuesday night, if anyone fancies coming along. I am dragging poor woodsy whether he likes it or not Ash

So meself, aislinn, paul and andrew will be doing the assesment on the 27/28th of March. I was telling darach that a few others may be interested in doing the assessment at a later date. Just give a bell or check out his website for dates: www.inmyelement.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=74&Itemid=77You don't have to go as a group of four. You can just go along with him on the assigned dates and he will be able to get others to do the assessment with you then.

I found the guidance notes for the MS exam on the moutaineering website. It gives possible scenarios and written exam questions. Might be of to people doing the exam. I can't post it up as it is too big, but the link below will lead to the download www.mountaineering.ie/trainingandsafety/viewdetails.asp?ID=36

Hey, I was chatting to Darrach earlier today. He just wanted to confirm that everyone is still good to go for the weekend. Also do people want to camp out or not. UL are hosting the windsurfing intervarsities in Castlegregory and there is a big night planned on Saturday if we care to locate in that direction. he mainly just wants to know that everyone is in as he has had other work offers and doesn't want to get caught out. I told him we were all good to go, so just rechecking. Apart from that when, how are people travelling? I'm going to have to make it down from Leitrim on friday eve. My van is out of action so would be looking for a lift from maybe Limerick. Sure let us know your plans and we'll take it from there. Good Luck.

Hi Guys,
I am still up for the MS assessment. I am taking a half day on Friday so I can get the train back to Kerry and get my car and meet ye in Tralee on the way Friday evening. It will save everyone getting packed into the one car. I don’t mind camping I’m easy whatever ye want to do.
Cheers
Aislinn

'Probably the whackiest MS assessment i've ever been and will be involved in. Great craic, thanks.'
Quoted from the man himself. All i say is fair fucks to andrew-animal of a man. Aisslinn kicked all our asses by finding that tiny reentrant on the map(ML will be a piece of cake to her). Great to see that fhearghal got on great. It is great for the club that fhearghal went on and did this. If legal action ever came back and bit you in the ass, this would really help. so more club members shor go out and do the assessment. I wish i did it back in first year like fhearghal did. Ye should not stop at this either, you aswell as others should go on to do yere ML.

MS assessment was great, fair play to Fearghal he did a great job on short notice. Darrach was unreal as the examiner, he is a great mountain leader I cannot say enough about him, I learnt as much from him during the assessment as I did during the course.
