I would very much be in favour of Colm's idea of having more drivers, not necessarily 9 but people with different interests on each one.. ie cillian - caving , jerome - orienteering , colm-climbing , maybe even sharon for orienteering as well because that would really make a difference having someone who could go to the fixtures.. i dont know if shes interested but something to think about?

It is indeed :-)
I'm going to try and get a definitive list of what is needed for people to apply and I will post that up here then just so people know what would be needed.

Hey guys I can go on one of the vehicles if needed. Ye can let me know what the committee thinks and pass on the legalities stuff. I'm pretty sure I tick all the requirements but send on any finalised checklist so we all know what's required. I'll be around a lot more now so will be travelling to events from here most Sundays and it would be great to see a few more people going - might as well fill up a car if one is going that direction anyway! As the events in Co. Limerick are very limited, traveling is required so it would be nice to have enough transport. Having said that, I have a car so if the committee want to put Jerome on the vehicles for orienteering, the possibility is still there to get a nice little group going some weekend. I think it's great for the club to have so many options and as well that there are plenty of people willing to drive.

with Jerome relatively restricted in terms of the farm and having to go up home i think it would be best if sharon could be on it (if willing) cos that would mean we advertise orienteering fixtures and get more people going to them, way improves the prospects for the sport..
Also could there be some bit of discussion of who actually goes on the vehicles rather than one person deciding cos we should be wide about putting some people on all three vehicles etc ya know and possibly accidentally ruling people?
people that i would like to see considered would be: sharon, colm, darragh (1st year), ginge (whenever it works), cillian (obviously), tony, aine, maybe claire or aislinn, myself, paul, sadlier now cos he might be around weekends, conor hurley, edel, jerome, jim

thanks woodsy for putting Clare and my name forward for driving the jeep. We agree that it makes sense to have a few named drivers for each sections. Clare and I would like to run trips next semester on a saturday and having access to a such as the jeep would make life a lot easier and allow us to bring more newbies caving, and help us get more experience for our BCL examination. At the moment if we want to run such a trip we would need at least 2 cars and one car is full just of gear and the driver, while the other car would only be able to take 3 people (ex driver) comfortably.
It is up to the committee in the end who goes on the jeep, and whatever the decision is we respect it.
Cheers
Aislinn and Clare

Vehicle allocation is currently being discussed by the committee, Colm.
It will be next semester before anybody, except Cillian, can drive the C&S vehicles.

A list has been put together by the committee which pretty much has no one left out.
I will post this publicly after I have a chat with Paul Lee to ensure the number of people we want to put on both the Sprinter and 4x4 is ok. Otheriwse the committee are going to have to meet to discuss again.
It is possible that we will have people on them in time for the new year and possibly before :-)
Monday, I'll have the list up, but in the meantime can everyone who was going to go i on them and showed interest get that letter from their insurance company stating how long they have been insured for. If all goes well with Paul, this is just going to speed up the process for afterwards.
Questions?

the requirements have to be met each year and go through the process each year too so its not really a case of getting it out of the way as such..

Well the proof of previous insurance and endorsement from Nessans are once off things.
All that's needed annually is a signed letter from the committee with the list of divers and for each driver to complete to the 'additional drivers form' and declare any penalty points.

just to point out that we used the 4X4 this saturday for scotland training and it worked brilliantly.
we had seven travelling the whole way down from limerick to killarney and 8 in the jeep a couple of times too. everyone was comfortable and the trailer provided ample storage for all the gear..
Looking forward to the many benefits this additional Club and Society vehicle will bring to the OPC ..
(both the sprinter and the minibus were being used by other clubs....)
