Hey guys, so I got this list approved by Paul Lee yesterday. These will be the drivers till the end of this academic year, changes can be made at the committee's discretion. Minibus:Cillian, Gahan Sprinter:Áine, Conor Hurley, woodsy, Paul, Tony, Jim and Darragh 4x4:
Jerome, Claire, Colm, Aidan, Sharon and Keith (myself in the new year). So guys what I need from each of you is the following: - A letter from your insurance company, detailing how long you have been insured for. (Total needs to be in excess of 12 months).
- A photocopy of your Drivers Licence, front and back.
- A filled Additional Driver Request form, which you can get from me. I'll arrange some way to pick this up, but in the meantime concentrate on the first 2.
In addition if you are going for the Sprinter, you need a letter of endorsement from Nessan's (the guys who provide the lessons) saying you are capable :-) (These lessons don't cost you anything). So guys, questions or problems let me know. But please get the letter and copy of your Drivers License for me and we'll get it sorted as soon as we can. Also, if you are on the list and no longer wish to be on any of the vehicles, let me know too. Thanks, Keith

"Total needs to be in excess of 12 months" Afraid I have not been insured for over 12 months. First I have heard of this requirment. Guess I'll have to wait till 4th year.

I thought that did get mentioned somewhere in the last thread. Sorry if it hadn't.
It's 12 months in total, doesn't have to be on one single policy if that is any help.

Since Colm can't go on the 4x4, could either me or woodsy take his place? Or anybody else that meets the criteria for that matter?

Is it possible to replace colm with Darragh Keane for the 4 x 4? I know three of us expressed interest in going on it but I think he can be prioritised here because he is around the most in the coming year and especially on holidays. If it were the case that Aidan would be declined could I put myself or conor forward? I would suggest myself as i will be around for all the weekend trips and since I will be on Coop I would look to having the sprinter or jeep out on Saturdays for more trips where we can better advance our skills, camp over night and then maybe meet the sunday trip in the area where they will arrive.. That is just provisional for now in case Aidan can't be on it

That's a really clever idea woodsy. Never thought of that before. I always thought that the more advanced people in the club should try and get out more themselves and do stuff like navigation, ridge walk, night nav, camping etc.

Yeh, I don't see any problem with that personally :-)
Next Semester I am planning to work with Darragh C to try and have advanced/lead climbing trips run on every second saturday, so maybe we could work out something there for the alternate weeks.

Ginge : "Next Semester I am planning to work with Darragh C to try and have advanced/lead climbing trips run on every second saturday" savage..... aidan vey happy.... but would they have to be lead climbing the whole time?? like i thought a day in the gap bouldering would be a cool idea with so many boulders like we could have alot of people on diff problems... and since its bouldering alot of people could be climbing cos no need for gear just shoes chalk and mats....? what ye think?

We can work on it. But with the new vehicle, we have a lot of possibilities :-)

Its not so much what we do on Saturdays as doing it I think is the point. Climbing might take over a bit more towards the end of semester 2 definitely but i would like to try get out there on Saturdays, mainly where the trip is going and do alot more camping so lads are better prepared for living outdoors and outdoor overnight situations like the alps, like the summer rock climbing stuff and so on and so forth.. good ol pocket rockets.
but thats just part of it..

Hey, are more drivers being added at the start of this coming semester?

the list of drivers will be reviewed and updated this coming semester.. talking with Paul Lee and Liz Gabbett last week there will more than likely be more limitations put on how different Clubs etc can use the vehicles next year with unprecedent demand likely to be coming on board
its most likely that driving expierience etc will form a major part of the review process. with all vehicles having a reduced quota and limit being put on the number of drivers we can have moving forward...
if you are interested in driving make sure you have a copy of all the documentation outlined above ready for sept... NB penalty points and claims will cause issues...
