Hi guys,
Just wondering could those intending to go to Scotland have a meeting before we go away for the Xmas break just to go through the itinerary, drivers, plan etc so that we can finalise who is/isn't going and so that everyone is clear on what will be happening.
I'm hearing a lot of x is going, y isnt etc and it all seems very unclear at the minute what will be happening so maybe we could try and finalise numbers and plan etc?
We could try and have it on the saturday before we go to Lisdonvarna because I think most, if not all, of the people going to Scotland will be going there.

howdy,
i think it would be a good idea to have a meeting before scotland and give everyone who is actually going advice on gear that they require in the scotish environment. and brief people on the timetable of events
In terms of packing it would be best if people also start thinking about what they will be bringing over to scotland with them. i would recommend that everyone only brings a plastic box and their rucksac with them. the rucksac should be between 40-60litres capacity with plenty of pockets ( if you are looking for one over the holidays try and get a crampon pouch and a place for fixing ice axes)
The reason for the plastic tuff crate box is two fold as an additional storage for you clothes etc at the bunkhouse and keeping your stuff dry in the sprinter on the way over it sometimes gets very wet... it makes life easier in the bunkhouse as there is less likelyhood of clothes and gear getting mixed up... its not a massive living space we will be in
personal gear for the hills is also very important.. darrack last year said clearly you should aim to have at least two layers on everypart of your body... e.g. for your feet:sock liners , socks boots.... on your hands : liner gloves, gloves and at least two extra pairs of gloves... its best if you can wear a couple of pairs at a time..
everyone should aim to be selfsufficient: therefore everyone should get a Silva compass of their own and a whistle and rigging knife...
in many cases you do not have to buy very expensive brands and you can increase you stock of gear as you move forward... if you talk to other expierienced members or those who are noty going you may be able to organise borrowing some gear before we go...Santa and christmas presets may also give you the oportunity to get what you need..
there is lots of expierience within the club if you are looking for other gear such as jackets waterproofs etc...if you are going buying stuff try and make out a list of features yoiu really need and extras you would like if you can get it in your budget... otherwise just remember layering is always best practise as ski jackets are not good in the scotish climate.
having a meeting before we break for christmas would be great as people could bring along their outdoor gear if they want to ask questions about it and get advice ..

Thanks...

So will there be a meeting? If yes it would be really nice to send a mail or SMS as kind of "official" information.

Would it be possible to get some information on this out asap? The Judiths need to book flights etc im sure and we have been kept in the dark about this for over 3 weeks now.
There needs to be more communication about Scotland from those organising it.
BTW, anybody going to patagonia after Christmas?
