Hello Everybody!
We have finally reached charity week, which is always a highlight in the college calendar so let your hair loose and have some fun and drink till your hearts content and don’t forget give to charity.
Well done to all those who headed up Irelands highest Mountain, Carrantouhill last Sunday all you brave souls were battling with the elements and ye survived, it was an eventful day that I sadly missed with our stylish leaders showing off the latest trends and, all in aid of the Irish Cancer society who are very grateful for all your support.
Also, well done to everyone in the club (yes all of you, your all part of it) as the OPC have won Club of the Year and Club Event of the Year! Not to mention 2 of our core members who have helped out for years one the Club Person of the Year (Keith O Neil) and the Jason Hackett life time Achievement Award (Cillian Burke). So well done to all, it was an amazing night at the Clubs and Societies Ball!.

Caving in Yorkshire Easter 2010.
Plan for next week is our second ‘annual’ training trip to the UK this year, we will be staying in a caving bunk house with some of the great Yorkshire cave systems available locally. They will have professional guides and trainers to teach and bring everyone on some exciting cave trips (with some pitches over 60m) The dates are from the 29th march to the 4th April…. More info available from me E-mail Cillian@ulopc.com or from the message board, just click here.
It is not too late guys! If your interested e-mail cillian straight away with "YORKSHIRE 2010" as the subject!
Single Rope Technique (SRT) training…
SRT is the rope techniques used to enter and exit caves by climbing up and down ropes… all OPC members are welcome to join in and get shown the ropes. Training runs on Thursday nights from 7.15 during the semester in the PESS building P1004.. or call to the climbing wall to be pointed in the right direction. More information can be found by clicking here.
Midweek Caving
There will be no midweek caving trip this Wednesday but if OPC cavers can make there way down to the boathouse for 6.30 on Wednesday it would be great we have a little bit of construction and some gear organisation to do before Yorkshire and for the rest of the semester. After that we will be going through some very important knots and rope techniques….
If you are free please make every effort to come along
ORIENTEERING IV's
The 2010 Orienteering Intervarsities Championships will be held on the 28th March in Emo Court, Emo, Co. Laois! The OPC are interested in sending a few people along, but we need to know ASAP!!!!!!!!!
