Hi, everyone, I'm an exchange student from Taiwan, and will stay at UL from Fall 2011 to Spring 2012. Basically I have hiked and climbed for five years I hike and trek a lot in Taiwan, and I am also a rock climber. I will definitely bring mt backpack to UL, while I'm still considering bringing my harness, shoes, slings, crampons over there. It's great to see you have a wall in the Arena. We have a wall (13m Pyramide) on campus, too. And I believe the wall is one of the reasons making me come to UL. I'm planning hike and camp the major mountains in Ireland. Moreover, I'm quite interesting in mountaineering, trad climbing, and rescue skills. Really love to know more about and the members.

Hi Thanks for showing interest in our club and you are more than welcome to join. We are involved in 5 activities Hillwalking, Rockclimbing Caving and Mountaineering. We run trips every Sunday throughout the semester and caving is done every Wednesday night. We also run 2 -3 wknd trips in the semester and they cost €35-€40. The club costs € 5 to join that includes insurance on the hils the use of the climbing wall for the year and use of the climbing gear. Our climbing wall has been dismantled as the building is being demolished. We have a new building for the climbing wall and we are hoping to start building the wall in early August so we will have it ready in September for the new semester. We supply all climbing gear Harness, Helmet , Shoes, ropes, nuts hexes, friends etc so no need to bring your own gear unless you want to it will save room in your bag. We also run international trips through out the year. In January we go to Scotland for winter mountaineering we supply crampons and ice axes. In Easter we go to Spain for Rock Climbing and in Summer we go to the Alps for mountaineering. We also run allot of training courses throughout the year Mountain Skills, Mountain Rescue. Cave Leader, Learning to Lead. It really is a great club to be involved and I would highly recommend it. Also we have a message board www.ulopc.com and we have group profile on Facebook www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=42639005235 OPC. Hope this helps. Any questions please ask. Regards Paul
