So at the risk of sounding like a broken record or scratched CD for all ye younguns,
Is there any chance anyone knows if it has been arranged to open the wall on any night during the summer months?
I have already offered to supervise if one is required.
Later Harr.

I know Cillian has a meeting with Neasa soon and that is one of the things that are up for discussion. So hopefully we'll have an answer soon. I can't foresee any problems anyways ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Howdy all, I had a very good meeting with Neasa O Donnell this morning. The short story is that there will be access one evening a week to the climbing wall from 6-9pm during the summer. the evening will probably be wednesday (to be confirmed.) The wall will definately not be open this evening but if its to be open tomorrow evening ( for this week only) i will put a post up about it. Any Questions? As it stands the building will not be open to the general public any evening during the summer.
however Two clubs will be facilitated solely for their members one night a week. from 6-9pm.. so the day has to be set between the two.
There are resource constraints which have to be taken account of as the building will not be generally open to the public
The day has not necessarily been set in stone yet. Is there a major objection to Wednesday?.. traditionally this is the day it used to be open during the summer...

Hi All,
The wall can be opened for climbing purposes this evening.
As stated before the building is not open to the public so the front door will be locked if people are inside climbing... if you want to go climbing tonight let me know please otherwise the facility will not be available to you....

Hi All,
How does opening the climbing wall on thursday evenings from 6 to 9 for the summer suit.
If there are major objections please let me know.
Again the Pess building is not open generally so the front door will be locked while people are inside.
If you intend climbing this thursday pop me an E-mail please

well showed up last night at the wall with three others and it was locked. I apreciate that your giving up your free time cillian but a quick txt or mail or even a post here would have saved us all the unnessary journy out.
i have resigned my self to the fact that there simply is not enough climbers in limerick to keep the wall open on a regular basis (probably because its not open regularly) and that the club who are rersponsible for it see it as a hinderance more so than an asset, so its cool if you dont want to open it, just let us know so we are not waisting out time.
cheers harr

Hi Harr
I understand your complaint and I am sure it was just an over site or break down in communication, it happens. I know you understand how much time Cillian (and other OPC members) have put into getting the climbing wall open for the summer so perhaps you should cut him some slack and a little appreciation next time you are at the climbing wall.
With regards out time I think we should recognise and thank the amount of out time the entire ULOPC committee give in running the club year round.
Perhaps as a remedy instead of complaining we could see how we(non-committee members) could make it more accessible, and help out. If it wasnt for the committee helping us out by running the trips and wall we wouldn't even have a club.
I am willing to give up some of my time if help is needed running the wall year round while I am based on campus. And I should be available till early August.
Please don't take offence to this post but I really respect the amount of time the committee put into running the club.

Aislinn, To be fair harr has contributed the same if not so much more than most opc members and committee and regularly offers himself to supervise the wall on the nights just so that it can be sorted out so i dont think it should be said to him about the committee etc..
to be fair he did mention it at christmas and im sure much before about the exact same situation.. cillian also has done trojan work off his own back as always, if its just a case of a problem the last week fair enough like he does his absolute best for everyone, it is tough to let everyone know..
could i suggest that there be put up a list and everyone who uses the wall on these thursdays signs in and leaves an email so communication can be improved for those that do use it and maybe harr be taken up on his offer and share out the load for supervision? Just a thought

There wouldn't be a wall without the effort Harr and other past members have put in over the years, and few have been involved with the development and running of the wall as much as he has.
I think the point he is making is that there are three possibilities here: 1) close the wall completely during the summer; 2) open the wall, and provide a good service, with any closures advertised well in advance; 3) open the wall but with inability to provide regularity of service and poor communication of closures. Surely 1 and 2 are the better options here. Better to know the wall is closed and make other plans than to waste an evening traveling to a wall that may not be open. Situations like he has spoken about reflect badly on the club organisation and do not do justice to the effort and hard work that they have put in over the last few years
