Guys and Dolls hows tricks?
I hope you are all well and had a great slightly wild Halloween unlike myself obviously. Those of you who hauled yourself to the weekend trip to the Cliffs of Moher congratulations, ye are tougher than me, no better cure. Now lets see what the OPC have in store for you this week:
Killarney Weekend Sign Up
Oh yes, thats right. The sequel to Letterfrack is just around the corner. The sign up to for the Killarney Trip is on this Thursday, Week 9, at 6pm in the Red Raisins Cafe. A deposit of €20 will be taken and a further €15 on the bus. This covers the bus down and back and Saturday nights dinner. The trip itself leaves on the Saturday morning of Week 10 from the stables archway.
We will climb Ireland's highest mountain, Carantouhill, also known as the roof of Ireland with some of the most amazing views you will ever see. That evening we will sit down for dinner before loosening up with a huge party. As this trip is run with our friends of the International Society those of you torn will have no excuses for missing this. We will also be able to watch the Ireland vs France world cup play off on Saturday so people on either side can begin to think of wearing your countries colours Saturday night. Ye will get more details soon. Just remember Red Raisins Thursday wk9, 6pm!!
Galtee Mountains
This Sunday we will visit the Galtee Mountains located in Ireland's Golden Vale. The sign up sheet will be outside the climbing wall from this evening and will make an appearance at the red raisins. This will be a beautiful hike and will leave the Stables arch at 9am costing €10. Now lads, I love to take the piss but wearing jeans is just too far. I would advise everyone to bring a spare change of clothes and leave them on the bus with our trusted driver, Pat. Questions? Ask our cult hero Friendly Paul, trips@ulopc.com .
Caving News
Midweek caving, a trip you'll never forget, will be happening this Wednesday 4th of November meeting at the boathouse at 5.50. Interested? Drop Caving He who shall not be named Cillian an email Cillian@ulopc.com .
Competition: We will be running a caving competition before Christmas to test any newcomers on their safety and speed at SRT-ing up and down a rope based on a set of safety steps and what not. Keep an eye out for more caving news on the website opc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cavin .
Training
Cillian will be waving his magic caving wand again this Thursday. Caving tricks and techniques, SRT and Rope Training will all be part of the learning curve in the PESS building at 7pm (P1004).
Orienteering training will also be happening in the PESS building right after Caving training. 8.30 same room. Jerome promises to take a group out for a fun run with night navigation should the weather permit.
The evening run will take place this Tuesday at 6 from the wall. As times are more busy and evenings darker it will be one run a week. Do join us for it though, its a great way to clear the head for an hour, get some fresh air and chat to the lads and lasses for a while.
The climbing wall is open to all on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 10 in the PESS building. For any of you with children, we have a night for them on Wednesdays, 7-9. It is just €4 for each child for the whole night.
One final thing guys, a huge send off to part of the heartbeat of the club, Keitho, Tara and Garion, many thanks lads. On the bright side, Single Darragh, Indiana Fearghal, Wolfe Tone Davis, Sultry Edel and Cimbing Prodigy Darragh are all welcome new additions to the OPC committee. Congrats lads and I look forward to harassing ye.
Any photos lads feel free to throw em up on facebook and tag our name so everyone can see the different ones.
Thats all folks, don't forget, RED RAISINS 6PM THURSDAY.
