Hey guys,
Everyone made it back alright anyway after an epic weekend, where Love and friendship blossomed. Thanks everyone for making this trip LEDGENDARY. I just want to give Friendly Paul and Keitho a special thanks as it wouldn’t have happened without them.
The Burren
Rock climbing trip this Sunday
If you want to experience heaven on earth The Burren is the place to be this weekend where you can experience fantastic climbing where there are roots available for all levels of ability. If you are interested in going please make your way to the climbing wall. It’s open from 7 to 10 Monday Tuesday and Thursday where you can sign up for the trip. The bus will be leaving Sunday at 9:00 from the stables arch way and only cost €10.
Caving trip this Sunday
This Sunday if climbing isn’t your thing come and visit the hidden world and natural beauty underneath the Burren it’s self. Our resident caveman Cillian will look after you in his typical Clare fashion. Anyone interested in caving this Sunday send your name telephone number and contact details to Cillian@ulopc.com

Training
Anyone who wants to go for a run before tucking into some pancakes meet Jerome at 6:00 outside the Pess building on Tuesday and if that doesn’t suit he will be there on Thursday too so just get in touch with him on 087 2165287.
Single Rope Technique (SRT) training…
SRT is the rope techniques used to enter and exit caves by climbing up and down ropes… all OPC members are welcome to join in and get shown the ropes… Training runs on Thursday nights from 7.15 during the semester in the PESS building P1004.. or Call to the climbing wall to be pointed in the right direction

There are some training resources available on the tread too that are useful and helpful in teaching the techniques of SRT –
Learning to Lead!!
The course that teaches you all you need to know about outdoor rock climbing and leading. Most of those who are interested are quickly making themselves known, those of you who are interested contact woodsy at woodsy@ulopc.com. This weekend will be taking place on the 13th and 14th of March.
Climbing Intervarsities!!!
So guys, this years Rock Climbing Intervarsities are coming up the weekend of week 5 (27th and 28th of February) and we wanna know who is interested in going along. All the information can be got from here: opc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=indoor&action=display&thread=1527&page=1
This competition is fine for beginners as well guys, so don't be afraid to come along and have a good time :-)

Yorkshire 2010.
Easter week is the plan for our second ‘annual’ training trip to the UK this year… run in the model of our Scotland trip we will be staying in a caving bunk house with some of the great Yorkshire cave systems available locally… we will have professional guides and trainers to teach and bring everyone on some exciting cave trips (with some pitches over 60m) more information to come the dates are from the 29th march to the 4th April…. This Wednesday come to orienteering training, where you get to hang out with Jerome and find out all the fun things you can do around campus and further afield! If this tickles your fancy they are meeting at 6:30 at the Climbing Wall. If you have any question contact Jerome at orienteering@ulopc.com.

Wales Easter Rock(Trad) Climbing Trip
It's finally here!! The biggest Rock Climbing trip of the year! This year we're heading to the sprawling sunny sea cliffs of Pembroke in south Wales; full of beautiful beaches with world class rock climbing. This is a trip for all levels of climbers. If you've never climbed but are interested in going on the trip, just come to the climbing wall here in UL (PESS Building), and tell any of the lads you're interested and we'll prepare you for the trip! This is an amazing 10 day trip (March 26th - April 04), and, like all OPC trips, it's one not to be missed!!
Right now we're trying to get provisional numbers; so if you're interested, email our climbing officer Darragh Ó Conghaile at 0861553@studentmail.ul.ie. Once provisional numbers have been attained, we can set the price for the trip but one thing is for sure; it's going to be great value!! This Easter trip usually fills up quickly so get your name in fast!!
Anyone who has already shown interest, could they either email Darragh again or talk to him at the wall to confirm their interest. See ye at the wall!!!!

I just want to say well done to Jen Lynch as she had an article about the Trip to Scotland published in An Focal Last Monday it turned out great, you should check it out.

A club gear order is going in this week: For all of you who were looking to get Neoprene socks for caving I will need you shoe size and E19.50 to place the order for ye.. Like a wetsuit once they get wet your body heats up and they keep your body warm for the rest of any caving trip…really worth the investment when you get them you will never go back…
