Learning to Lead, Rock Climbing
The dates are finalised the spots are filling up. March 13th and 14th in the Burren is your chance to learn what you need to know to lead climb, set up top ropes, abseils and other such fantastic things of trad climbing safely. So far 4 out of the 6 spots on this training weekend are filled. That leaves 2 places for anyone willing. It is a great opportunity, with summer knocking on the door you will be able to take a friend out climbing, improve your skills and start improving even more as a climber. This is the cheapest way of doing this training as gear will be provided and subsidisation will be available to you for this training. All enquiries send them to woodsy@ulopc.com .
Carantouhill for the Irish Cancer Society
woodsy, our Training Officer and once PRO ( I’m no longer his ass.) is currently putting all his attention into organising a hike up Carantouhill for the Irish Cancer Society coinciding with the trip to Kerry on March 21st. But it be only that in the OPC? Yes, we do things a little bit different alright. So to add some spice, he will be dressed in drag along with several other members of the committee. Apart from going along on this trip for such a good cause, he asks you to get involved with all that it demands. Obviously not everyone is going to do it in drag but whatever support you can give, with even just going on the trip, will be appreciated Several of the committee and others have been given sponsorship cards to try raise some money for the ICS. There will be a card down at the climbing wall for whoever would like to sponsor the lads in drag . We will be joined on the hills by other colleges and walking clubs from around the country also which woodsy has contacted. Keep an ear to the radio, you might even hear about it. Give him an email if you want to get involved woodsy@ulopc.com .
