welll lads... for those of ye that werent at the climbing iv's this year... it was awesome..! but ideas of joint climbing trips on weekends... and maybe push for a joined climbing trip abroad next year...came up... most significantly with the uuj college club.
just said id post this to help spread the idea.. and see what ye all think and what ideas ye have...?
i duno what fairhead is like bit it looks serious....! the Burren would be class cause u have doolin pubs nearby....! (ohh the craic would be ON!)
Foreign trips would simply be legendary! ell chooro or costa blanca would be ideal with a larger group and simply Spanish weather... well lads what do ye think?

id be up for it.. foreign ones might just be a bit too far into the future yet.. but there's nothing stopping a group of us organising it amoungs ourselves and taking off over somewhere.. As for irish trips, im well up for it.. UUJ, NUIG, UCC and DCU would probably b well up for it. I read somewhere that youd wanna be leading E1 to really enjoy fair head climbing/leading.. Prolly wrong but sure something of interest. UCC did the hike for charity yesterday so they get involved. Was chatting to Daniel Casey and he was hoping to set smething up as well.

Fair head would have more for beginners than the likes of ailladie just because of its size, but is is true that most of the climbing is E1 or greater. But it wouldnt be a problem for a weekend trip or maybe even a week long trip. Theres definately enough routes to keep people happy

The uniform structure and size of the crag menas the nature of the routes are sustained and long so many people have said even the VS's feel like E1's elsewhere, loads of gear tho.

I like the sound of this The only time we really get to interact with other clubs is the IV's. It'd be nice to get to know and climb with fellow students from around the country Heard there was a joint UL and NUIG trip recently enough out in the the Burren. How'd that go in the end?

Okay.... so it may not be Fair Head but... NUIG was hoping to stay up in Dublin and get out to Dalkey on the weekend of the 16th-18th of April and hopefully meet up with the Dublin clubs. How about making a joint trip of it? Thought there was a hostel decided but there's ifs around that at the mo but ill let ye know when I know. Planning to head out on the Friday night to Turks Head, Saturday night TBD. Whatcha's think?

"it was amazing. bouldering fri, trad sat, bouldering sat nite, back to the tents for mussels and chicken wrapped in bacon and then trad sunday every1 was sayin it was the best climbing trip they had ever been on" and/or another camping trip to the burren on a bigger scale (more colleges and whatnot) since it seems to have been such a massive success last time.. wish i was there

well im climbing at dcu wall now, few sound lads there, jade has NUIG and well UL is sorted.
I'd say go for something big over the summer. June sometime we hit the Burren? UUJ, DCU, UL, NUIG, UCC.. I know a few in all of them so we could get chatting to them drum up some interest?

Would these be exclusive to clubs? I know a few people in Galway who might be interested in part-taking but aren't in any clubs...
