Paul, as mentioned I was the last person Garion had contacted regarding the gear. I either chose to ignore the text at the time or simply forgot to reply, I genuinely can't remember.
He texted me the day I was going home so chances are I was busy doing something else. The fact that we knew where they were and no indication was given at the time that he was going home what was the problem? I would of loved to have them at the wall when I was doing the inventory, but they weren't.
Again, no one is to blame here but myself.
It was a mistake, but quite honestly not something to get so worked up over. There is another set of hexes at the climbing wall that can be used.
Darragh is doing the best he can with a situation that is not his fault.

Im not blaming any one but it was said there was only one set of hexes in Garions room. And I know Colm had planned this trip well in advance.
Like I siad I am around all summer for people to drop gear to me. And of course I know what a great Job yourself and Darragh are doing and it is greatly appreciated

Either way, the gear is there, so no problems.

Surely to He who shall not be named its not that big a deal when each party has made the effort to sort them. Crap for Colm alright but people have tried.
Anyway,
can i ask for gear this weekend?
I need: set of half ropes, 4 helmets, 3 harnesses, 1 full rack, an extra set of nuts and two extra slings.
People using it are myself and fearghal on Howling, bringing Clare and another person. Either Crazy Jew, Miriam or someone else.
I'll try and arrange someone to collect it maybe Wednesday or if Cillian reads this maybe he could take it and give to my mother if he gets the chance

There is fuck all gear on howling dude, i think there is one nut placement in the whole route, but yeah there are a few slings alright. Looks like I will have my car back tomorrow so I will be able to head down with my gear soon after.

A set of Hexes would be very usefull on howling and a bunch of slings should get you up safely.
On a side note there used to be loads of hexes in the locker, there was a time when thats all there was, any idea where they went to, if they are still there but look old and tatty then the slings on them can be replaced with 7 or 8mm cord. ok they wont look as fancy as the new ones but they will work fine for mountain routes, any way just a thought.

Since I started we only ever had 2 sets I think, maybe 1 and we bought a new set.
If there were old ones, they are long gone I'd say >,<

Maybe just change the full rack request to some small nuts and a bundle of slings? We'll only be using the nuts once or twice anyways. The slings are grand though.

In fact if I remember correctly there is a nut left in a crack along the route. Just clip into that

The club has two sets of wild country hexes and there are some old ones aswell that need there cord replaced. As for howling I would get a full set of nuts 1-14 and split them between the groups that along with a couple of large slings and 2 or 3 short ones will do ye. Don't forget you'll need a crab for each person to tie in so you'll want 4 plus a couple spare just in case. The last day on howling I put in about 10 nuts, they're there if you look for them, i'd never used that many before only last time I had both Judiths on my rope and it gave them some psychological help Oh and if you're climbing howling with fearghal remind him not to try to kill anyone and also to bring enough helmets

i might use the gear in the burren the following day though so thats why i was thinking to just get a full rack. So basically the half ropes rack and maybe a few extra slings if thats good ? Im sure the Burren guidebook is gone anyway so im not too worried, can suss that out at the weekend anyway.

My bad on the hexes, sorry Colm. Was running around doing a few things at once trying to get FYP supervisor sorted before leaving and getting bike serviced among other excuses slipped my mind to txt Cillian or Paul. I'll be back Mon or Tues. Will it suit anyone for me to bring the gear anywhere nearby to my house? If no I can stash a key and leave the gear under the stairs.
