Hey, just thought I'd mention a few things that should be looked into prior the trip just in case Guide Books, one per car. Maps maybe, also one per car. woodsy said that we'd be relying on gear other than club gear so that should probably be looked at more closely. Get a list of gear people will have so if we're short there's time to buy more. Between 20 people I'd imagine we'd want a minimum of 8 ropes and racks. Trad routes will take longer than sport routes and so sharing a rope and rack between 3/4 people wont work as well, especially on sea routes where its 2 to a rope(for up to 2/3 hours and more if its multipitch). A rack doenst need to be a full club rack, cams wont be needed I'm guessing, and 2 sets of nuts 1-10 along with a 2 belays , 2 slings, extenders and 5/6 crabs should do between two people for most routes(maybe €300/€350), with the more specialised gear (cams, big nuts and hexes) that we already have being taken and used as required. Rope bags, mad handy, saves time, saves rope and means ya dont have to unravell someone elses poorly coiled rope

I am just saying right now that the bulk of the gear for this year according to the 3 year gear plan has been bought.
The club has 4 full racks (if not very close, 1 or 2 things may still need to be bought).
No more ropes are being bought this year either. People will have to bring their own gear if they have it or borrow it from others if you really want that much going.
Need to be very conscious of space guys. None of the C+S vehicles are available, meaning it will be peoples cars that are going. You might have to share things a bit over there ;-)
We can also buy 1 map/guidebook and photocopy them :-P

ah 4 racks is great :-) thought there was 2 or 3 ;D how many ropes ye got? Was thinkin i mite look into roof racks and a roof box (i know friends who have 1) and this would definately make a massive difference. As long as you can find someone whos willing to makes copies of the 232 pages then fair enough but either way each car needs a copy. With regards borrowing gear, is it up to each person/group/car to have enough gear? i.e. I wouldnt expect to be allowed take gear that say mitch went and borrowed off a friend. Maybe once we know groups and such we can divide up the club gear and then its up to that group to get their hands on anything else required?

We'll figure that out. The club will provide all that it can anyway.

We're going to pembroke yeah? Might take a look and see if there's PDF out there in the world of torrents. Could probably be put onto people's ipods or phones if so.

All equipment has been tested by "STANDART" the Ukrainian National Scientific-Certification Center in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.... ya, they sound great garion :-P And would you carry ur lap top around ailladie all day? Think the whole book is available digitally (without topos) but its 232 pages long and at only 20 pounds its silly not to get at least 1. Cost of photocopyin all that would prob be over a tenner like.

I was thinking more along the lines of picking a route at the hostel and printing it out. Would mean bringing a printer though. How about printing out routes that you're interested in before leaving Limerick. I'd def bring it to Alladie, multipitch is a different story.
